What inspired you to pursue an online college education, and how did you get started?
I was inspired to pursue an online college education because I wanted the flexibility to continue working while furthering my education. Traditional classes didn’t fit my schedule, and I didn’t want to put my goals on hold. Online learning enabled me to study at my own pace and balance my schoolwork with other responsibilities.
I got started by researching accredited programs that aligned with my career goals. I compared costs, program structure, and flexibility before enrolling in the one that best suited my needs. From there, I created a dedicated study schedule and space at home to stay organized and focused. Deciding to pursue online education has been one of the best steps I’ve taken for my personal and professional growth.
What challenges have you faced while pursuing your degree online, and how have you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced while pursuing my degree online is staying disciplined and managing my time effectively. Unlike traditional classes, online learning requires a lot of self-motivation, resilience, and tenacity. After losing my father—my greatest motivator—I realized the importance of surrounding myself with positive, supportive people. These opportunities allow me to honor his legacy by staying resilient, building meaningful relationships, and using my experiences to uplift others
How have you balanced your online coursework with other responsibilities, such as work or family?
Balancing online coursework with work and personal responsibilities has required discipline and planning. I started by creating a structured schedule where I set aside specific times for studying, just like I would for a traditional class. I also use digital tools like calendars and reminders to stay on track with deadlines.
There were times when unexpected responsibilities came up, but I learned to prioritize and stay flexible. I often study early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid distractions. This experience has taught me how to manage my time effectively and maintain focus, even when life gets busy
What have you found to be the benefits of pursuing a college education online, compared to traditional on-campus learning?
Pursuing my college education online has taught me the true value of discipline, adaptability, and self-motivation. Unlike traditional on-campus learning, online education challenges me to take full ownership of my schedule, manage my time effectively, and stay committed even when faced with distractions or unexpected obstacles. This experience has strengthened my resilience, helping me grow not just academically, but also personally, by cultivating problem-solving skills, independence, and a strong sense of accountability. Online learning has also allowed me to embrace new technologies and communication styles, making me more versatile and prepared for diverse environments. Overall, it has reinforced that growth often comes from pushing beyond comfort zones and finding creative ways to thrive.
How have you stayed motivated and engaged in your online classes, and what strategies have you used to ensure your success?
I stay motivated in online classes by setting clear goals, creating structured schedules, and breaking tasks into manageable steps. I engage actively with classmates and instructors, using challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and more resourceful. This approach has strengthened my resilience, self-discipline, and confidence, showing me that I can thrive in any environment.
What does it signify to you when organizations like Sigma Chi Psi Sorority and Gamma Sigma Gamma Fraternity attempt to bridge the social gap for students who are pursuing their education online?
To me, the efforts of Sigma Chi Psi Sorority and Gamma Sigma Gamma Fraternity show that community and connection matter just as much as academics. Even as an online student, I feel inspired knowing some spaces support growth, friendship, and belonging. It reminds me that resilience and success are strongest when we lift each other.
What significance do socializing, networking, and participating in events focused on networking and community service hold for you?
Socializing, networking, and participating in community service events are meaningful to me because they allow me to grow both personally and professionally. Building relationships and connecting with others inspires me, broadens my perspective, and reminds me that success is not just about individual achievement, but about uplifting and supporting those around me. Being part of events that combine connection and service motivates me to give back while strengthening the skills and resilience I need to thrive in all areas of life.
